The folks over at ArsTechnica have claimed from sources that Microsoft plans to make changes to the Xbox Live Gold requirements, removing the paywall to access Netflix and other streaming media apps.
With competing companies having never charged a paywall to access these apps, and the rise of other streaming devices such as Amazon Fire or Apple TV, it seems the pressure is on Microsoft to lift these paywalls as nobody would possibly keep paying extra fees for something that exists without them on other devices.
So how does this affect Australia? Not one jot, since us folks don’t even get things like Netflix or Hulu here. In fact, I’m not sure why it’s worth reporting.
