After a successful Kickstarter campaign in early 2015, we’re now getting our first batch of information about Playtonic’s Yooka-Laylee. The most exciting bit of information is the fact that we’ll receive a special 2.0 Toy Box in July that will release exclusively to Kickstarter Backers and will be a taste of what is to come in the final game. It’ll feature unique level with a substantial amount of content.
The game will have a presence at E3 2016 and many details on the game were released.
- The story follows Yooka and Laylee going on a quest to take out Capital B, as he is destroying the world’s literature. To do this, they go through various worlds inside different books.
- Game will honor collect-a-thon tropes like collectable health, special pages to unlock new parts of the world and coin-like Quills used to purchase new moves.
- Large cast of colorful characters to meet across the adventure.

Today – finally – we’re revealing a few of the star performers from our Yooka-Laylee coming out show; an all-new cast of characters from the Playtonic Universe, a deep story to discover, a roster of irresistibly shiny collectibles to seek out and huge, stunning worlds to explore. Over the past year the Playtonic team has tripled in size, moved office and quietly slaved away on what would become the final form of Yooka-Laylee.
