Some Fantastic Creatives Have Formed A New Studio For An Exciting Sci-Fi Project

It’s always exciting to hear news of a new studio opening rather than yet another closing.

Officially unveiled today, Wushu Studios is a new indepdendent game development studio based in Liverpool. The team is comprised of various veteran AAA developers primarily from the Motorstorm and Driveclub brands, but also with fresh talent from around the world.

The studio has been formed with the goal of “moving away from the AAA grind to create games with interesting mechanics, unique concepts and to deliver fun, refreshing gameplay experiences to players.

The team’s major players are as follows:

  • Alan McDermott is studio lead and has worked on DriveClub, MotorStorm and the VR game Tethered.
  • Nigel Kershaw is design director and has worked in the industry for 30 years, having most notably worked as game director on MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
  • Stuart Trevor is leading the artistic side of the studio, having worked with brands such as Dark Souls, Saint’s Row, SEGA, Adidas and Ford on various visual aspects.

Wushu Studios isn’t ready to talk about their new project just yet, but has confirmed that it will run on Unreal Engine 4 and offers a “tantalizing and unexpected take on the science fiction genre”. Alex Figini, a former senior BioWare concept artist, has also collaborated with the studio on the project.

The studio is hard at work on a prototype for their new project, since September 2017, and progress has remained positive.

The team can be followed either through their official website or via their official Twitter feed: @wushustudios
