Resident Evil 4’s Opening Remade In LEGO Is The Best Thing I’ve Seen Today

What're ya buildin'?

With Capcom’s monumental remake of Resident Evil 4 just around the corner, it seems they’re not the only ones striving to recreate the classic survival horror.

Animator Cara Aleatorio, whose other work includes LEGO recreations of Minecraft and GTA San Andreas, used CG to craft over 3000 still frames of digital LEGO to make the sequence. It’s an impressively faithful take on the original opening, with plenty for fans to shout and point at, Leo DiCaprio style, and looks convincingly like actual LEGO. There’s also a brief but interesting look behind-the-scenes at the end of the video which shows some of the work that went into it.

Watch the four-minute recreation below:

Resident Evil 4 is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC on March 24, 2023. Amazon has the cheapest pre-order price at $84.99 with free shipping.

We recently published an in-depth preview of the game, which you can read or watch right here. In it, our very own (resident) Resident Evil fan, James, says “You would not think that Capcom could pull it off. You might even feel that Resident Evil 4 didn’t need a remake – that it’s too soon to even bother. But Capcom felt otherwise. And I’m kind of glad they did. Because, after seeing even more of the game, a few things are clear. For one, the atmosphere cultivated in the Resident Evil 4 remake is unparalleled. But even better, it’s evident that Capcom has respected the original game.”

You can download a playable demo of the game, and a free PlayStation VR2 update is set to arrive some time after launch.
