Assassin’s Creed Statues With “Digital Soul” NFTs Are A Thing Now

Fung that in the 3D printer and voila!

Assassin’s Creed is the latest gaming franchise to jump on the NFT train, which currently is idling in the middle of a desert somewhere, bringing a new line of “Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles” to market, with a bit of a twist.

This new collectibles platform is selling “digital soul” NFTs of fan-favourite Assassin’s Creed characters, which can be customised and then embedded in a 3D-printed statue and interacted with using a dedicated companion app. People with more money than sense Collectors can choose their character’s outfit, weapon and pose to have it brought to life as a physical collectible – just like your grandparents used to play with – itself embedded in a block of transparent plastic so that your cool statue will be almost as intangible as its NFT counterpart.

Though they’re officially licensed, Ubisoft itself is not behind the creation of these Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles, but has instead partnered with the US-based Integrity Reality Labs. IRL’s platform and the Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles exclusively utilise the Polygon blockchain.

To the credit of those involved, parts of this idea are actually quite novel, at least as far as the app interactions and collectability aspects go. If only it wasn’t all tied into the NFT grift, and had more merit outside of simply being able to tell my uninterested friends that I’m the only guy in the world with a 3D-printed Ezio that says “345F34H78F345J56X46” on it.

For what it’s worth, when Square Enix dropped its range of NFT-enabled trading cards celebrating Final Fantasy VII, I totally bought a whole box of boosters and attempted to figure out how to redeem its Enjin Wallet-powered tokens. I gave up eventually, but the physical cards are gorgeous!
