Amazon’s Fallout Series Is Coming In 2024 And The First Teasers Have Arrived

But you (probably) can't see them.

After some sneaky early set photos hit the internet just a few short weeks ago, folks have finally been getting their first sanctioned looks at Amazon’s upcoming Prime Video series based on Fallout.

The show, aptly titled Fallout, is set to premiere on Prime Video sometime next year, and Bethesda brought a long a teaser to its Starfield presentations at a purpose-built 300-set theatre inside this year’s Gamescom expo halls. While the company has said it won’t be showing these at all outside of Gamescom, it promises that more looks are coming very soon, and GamesRadar has shared some of Todd Howard’s words as he introduced the series to showgoers.

“One of the movies which inspired Starfield is the movie Interstellar, written by Jonathan Nolan – he goes by Jonah,” Howard told audiences. “I got to know Jonah, and I always wanted to make a Fallout TV show! So I talked to Jonah about it and we have been making the Fallout TV show that’s coming, and we thought we would give you a sneak peek.”

GamesRadar’s Josh West shared some thoughts on this early look at the Fallout series, saying that what they saw showed an understanding and respect of the source material and that it gave off the impression of a “willingness to play with the Fallout vibe.” West said three scenes in particular stood out to them: A wall of Brotherhood of Steel soldiers marching against a stark background, the suits rich with detail – rendered as you remember them from the game. A tease of one of the most iconic Fallout scenes, as a Vault Dweller held their hand to their face to shield their eyes against the sun as they stepped from a vault for the first time, with an Overseer slamming it closed behind them. And then a shootout in a western-inspired town, with the camera pulling focus on a gunslinging ghoul in a cowboy hat.

Prime Video also shared a new graphic in a tweet that confirms the show will be set in Los Angeles and centre around Vault 33:

The Fallout series is being produced by Kilter Films in collaboration with Amazon Prime and Bethesda, with Lisa Joy (co-creator of Westworld) and Jonah Nolan (writer and director on Westworld, writer on Interstellar) developing the show. The cast will include Walton Goggins (The Righteous Gemstones, Invincible), Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Arcane) and Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Dune). Filming began in July last year and the series is set to premiere some time in the first half of 2024.
