Here’s The First Trailer For The Onimusha Netflix Anime Adaptation

Needs more Jean Reno.

Capcom’s classic samurai action-adventure series, Onimusha, is getting its very own Netflix adaptation in the form of an anime series, and the first trailer has just debuted.

Rather than focus on characters from the original games like the iconic Samanosuke, this new series follows Myamoto Musashi, who Netflix says is modelled after Japanese film icon Toshiro Mifune and will be voiced by Akio Otsuka, who voiced the main antagonist in the first three PS2 games, Nobunaga Oda. The trailer sees Musashi sent on a secret mission with a 33-day deadline, equipped with the famous Oni Gauntlet and battling enemies both human and non. It’s all very emotionally-charged and action-packed stuff that seems to capture the vibe quite well.

While the quality of Netflix’s CG-backed anime offering can vary pretty wildly, as someone who played the shit out of these games on the PS2 I think I’m pretty pleased with how this looks to be shaping up. Time will tell though, when it premieres on the service on November 2nd.
