Max Payne And Alan Wake 2 Actor James McCaffrey Has Passed Away

He most recently played the role of Alex Casey.

In heartbreaking news today, actor James McCaffrey has died at age 65 after a battle with cancer. He reportedly passed over the weekend surrounded by friends and family.

McCaffrey held roles in a number of films, TV series and video games but was well-known for his work with Remedy Entertainment, lending his voice to the iconic Max Payne as well as roles in Control as Zachariah Trench and finally Alex Casey in this year’s hugely-celebrated Alan Wake 2.

Tributes have begun to pour out from those that worked with James including creative director Sam Lake. Both Max Payne and Alex Casey share Lake’s likeness, meaning they were something of a shared role with McCaffrey.

“I’m heartbroken to hear the sad news of James McCaffrey’s passing,” Lake said. “We worked together for more than 25 years. He was a lovely man and a dear friend. He was a key part of the Remedy family. He was a brilliant actor. No one could do what he did better than him.”
