The Celeste Devs Just Released A 3D “Sequel” For Free

We're so back.

Celeste fans are in for a treat for the game sixth anniversary, with the team at Extremely Okay Games Ltd/Maddy Makes Games dropping an adorable new take on the iconic indie 2D platformer that reimagines the gameplay in 3D, and it’s free to download and play on PC.

While not a fully-fledged release, Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain is a smaller adventure created in a short amount of time by the Celeste team to celebrate the sixth anniversary. It includes a fairly generous amount of content even at less than 100MB in size, and even has some story bits that take place after the events of the original game (supposedly – I’m about to boot it up for myself!).

You can download Celeste 64: Fragments of the Mountain from Maddy Makes Games’ itch.io page right here.

We gave the original Celeste a huge 9/10 six years ago, with Brodie saying, “Celeste not only joins a long list of phenomenal platforming royalty, but it stands as a mighty pillar among the very best of them. Its message is clear albeit clumsy, though that doesn’t detract from its very real and relatable cast of flawed characters. It’s challenging in ways many games aren’t while managing to maintain an endless supply of magic.”
