Developer Illfonic has announced something of a comeback tour for the asymmetrical multiplayer shooter based on the iconic film franchise, with Predator: Hunting Grounds set to be newly-launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S – the first opportunity for Xbox players to play the game.
Originally launched in 2020 and published by Sony, Illfonic has now taken over publishing duties for the game and is working on a series of updates, starting with a major patch this month and then extending into the new-gen launches later in the year, followed by even more new content.
“This game has a strong, enthusiastic player base and a vocal community that wants to see the game updated and supported,” Charles Brungardt, CEO of IIIFonic says in a press release accompanying the news. “Now that IIIFonic is publishing games, we knew we had to get Predator: Hunting Grounds back. We knew we needed to get back to the Chopper!”
The studio shared a small roadmap of what to expect from the game under its care, which you can see below:
- April 2024: Patch 2.49 will cover the currently released PS4 and PC: Steam / Epic Predator Hunting Grounds. The focus is on player movement, Fireteam weapon rework and balance, Predator weapon balance, and UX/playability improvements. More to come in the team’s patch notes.
- Late 2024 Release: Xbox Series XIS, PS5 Release: Predator is coming to Xbox. This release is focused on next-gen running on Unreal 4.27, Vivox, and Wwise, with a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition offered.
- Summer Release, 2024: New Predators
- Autumn Release, 2025: More new Predators
