After first unveiling the title and announcing that a full reveal was impending, Ubisoft has finally dropped the debut trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, along with the first crucial bits of information like the game’s premise, characters, release date and various editions.
As promised this first trailer is a cinematic one, so it seems as though we’ll have to wait for a gameplay reveal (with an Ubisoft Forward coming up we probably won’t be waiting long), but what’s here is pretty exciting. The trailer reveals that this game will once again by led by two potential playable characters, although in a bit of a change we’re not just getting a choice between two possible genders but two different types of character entirely with a ninja and a samurai, with their own origins and an eventual shared purpose. Ubisoft has already revealed that Naoe and Yasuke will have their own independent progression in-game.
The feudal Japan setting naturally looks quite compelling, lending itself incredibly well to the Assassin’s Creed vibe and looking like it’ll offer up some incredible action and stealth. It’ll be really interesting to see how these two different characters play and how their journeys interact over the course of the game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch on November 15th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Mac and PC (no last-gen release for this one), and you can read more about the release, various editions and early access here. Watch the debut cinematic trailer below:
