The Street Fighter Movie Has Set A Release Date

Punching in.

After being revealed over a year ago, a release date has been set for the upcoming new Street Fighter film, according to reporting from Variety. Simply titled “Street Fighter,” the film will be coming to screens on March 20th, 2026 – still almost a couple of years from now.

While we still know next to nothing about the film so far, it’s already been revealed to be a co-production between Legendary and Capcom. With the recent trend of video game creators being heavily involved in the adaptations of their games (and the results being pretty good overall) we’ll hopefully see something similar here and the upcoming movie capturing the spirit of the modern Street Fighter games.

The most notable Hollywood-produced works based on the franchise have been the 1994 film, simply titled Street Fighter (which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as well as our very own Kylie Minogue), and the subsequent 2009 movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (which had… Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas).

The news comes as last year’s Street Fighter 6 continues to enjoy popularity and regular new updates and DLC content, including the drop of the iconic M. Bison as a new DLC fighter this week. The game contributed to another year of record profits for Capcom, selling over 3 million copies since launch, with the series as a whole having moved over 49 million units worldwide since 1987.

We gave Street Fighter 6 a huge 9/10 in our review last year, with James writing, “Street Fighter 6 rights the wrongs of its past with multiple modes for every player and strong battle systems like no other. It invites new players into the fold with well implemented, simpler control schemes, without losing sight of the hardcore player. The World Tour mode won’t be for everyone, but Street Fighter 6 stands tall as one of the best fighters Capcom has made.”
