After news broke earlier in the week that Legendary Entertainment had secured the film and TV rights to Street Fighter, a new Street Fighter film has already been announced.
While we know next to nothing about the film so far, it’s already been revealed to be a co-production between Legendary and Capcom. With the recent trend of video game creators being heavily involved in the adaptations of their games (and the results being pretty good overall) we’ll hopefully see something similar here and the upcoming movie capturing the spirit of the modern Street Fighter games.

The most notable Hollywood-produced works based on the franchise have been the 1994 film, simply titled Street Fighter (which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as well as our very own Kylie Minogue), and the subsequent 2009 movie, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (which had Taboo from the Black Eyed Peas in it).

It comes as the next major video game installment in the series, Street Fighter 6, is just around the corner, releasing on June 2nd for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
We recently previewed the new game, saying “All in all, Street Fighter 6 is truly poised to not only be the best Street Fighter in the series but one of the strongest fighters on the market. Its willingness to adapt accessibility strategies to invite new players into the fold without compromising what looks to be a deep and robust fighting system is to be commended. Hopefully, as the roster fills out, that trend will only continue.”
Street Fighter 6, the next game in the iconic series, will release on June 2, 2023! Take part in the Fighting Ground, which focuses on the classic fighting game experience with modes from previous games in the series. Two new modes will be available alongside: World Tour, an immersive single-player story experience, and Battle Hub, which will further expand the scope of player communication and engagement. Your Moment. Your Fight.
Street Fighter 6 release on June 2nd for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Amazon has the standard copy at $109 with free shipping.
