Update 2/7: VicScreen has revealed additional international partners that will be in attendance at this year’s Play Now Melbourne and searching for local Australian games and developers to invest in.
The new additions are:
- ID@Xbox
- Super Rare Games
- Focus Entertainment
- The Arcade Crew
- Cult Games
VicScreen has announced that it’s bringing back Play Now Melbourne for its second-ever event in 2024, following a successful first run last year which saw over $25 million worth of projects presented.
Like its 2023 iteration, Play Now Melbourne 2024 will bring local game studios, publishers, platform holders and investors together in a dedicated space, giving local developers and talent the unique and sorely-needed opportunity to directly pitch and present their games to the market both locally and globally.
Play Now Melbourne 2024 will take place on October 10th, 2024, as part of Melbourne International Games Week. There is no cost to developers to take part and pitch their projects, and successful applicants will have access to things like pitch training sessions and their own itinerary of scheduled meetings.
So far, the list of publishers signed up to attend and check out games being designed and made by our very own developers includes:
- Devolver Digital
- Raw Fury
- Oculus Publishing from Meta
- Team17
- Massive Monster
- Fellow Traveller
- Akupara Games
- Landfall
- ASTRA Logical
- UltraPlayers
- PlaySide Studios
Applications to be a part of the event are open now, so local developers keen on showing off their wares to some big-name publishers and investors can find out more about application requirements and other information here, and submit their applications here before 11pm, July 17th. Meanwhile, interested publishers, platform holders and investors can register their interest in being a part of Play Now Melbourne 2024 by connecting with the event using the contact information found here.
“Games are big business around the globe and Victoria has a growing reputation as a hub for game development and innovation,” writes the Victorian Minister for Creative Industries, Colin Brooks, in an accompanying press release.
“Through Melbourne International Games Week and events like Play Now Melbourne, we’re backing our local industry, creating more opportunities for local talent to connect with industry leaders and compete on the world stage.”
