The Free Nintendo Switch Online Virtual Console Situation Sounds Better Now

Nintendo had previously announced that gamers would get access to a free NES/SNES virtual console game with added online each month whilst they were subscribed to their paid online service, but this has now changed, for the better.

Nintendo had previously said that gamers would get access to a trial version of this software that they’d need to then pay for, but this has now changed.

In a statement provided to Kotaku, Nintendo has now confirmed that the monthly plan has now changed and that gamers will get access to an expanding roster of games that they’ll retain access to for as long as their service is active.

This was also confirmed by Nintendo’s Twitter account:

Unfortunately, we still don’t know exactly what games will be included in the package and it’s unclear when this will be launching outside of the new ‘2018’ date.

You can read the full statement that is provided to Kotaku below:

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will have ongoing access to a library of classic games with added online play. Users can play as many of the games as they want, as often as they like, as long as they have an active subscription.”

The idea of playing these classic games in an online capacity excites me immensely, but I’m a little but saddened by the fact that it still seems to be so far away.

Thanks, Kotaku.
