Redditor OatmealDome looks to have uncovered a lot of upcoming Splatoon 2 content through datamining.
The spoiler free list of what looks to be coming to Splatoon 2 is below. Even further below that is a more in-depth (and way more spoiler-filled) list of what looks to be coming.
- New weapon type discovered, We also got some new info on a theme of upcoming weapons and a preview of one.
- Two new returning maps have gotten some info.
- New map names have been found, Including some salmon run map names.
- There are some high class spoils near the end, I can’t say more without spoiling stuff.”
Now for the good (and spoilery) bits:
It looks like both Kelp Dome and Blackbelly Skatepark are returning from the original game. It looks like they’ll be changed, so don’t expect to be overly familiar with them. Further to this, it looks like two new maps will come in the next major update. These are called Kawa and Pillar. It also looks like we’ll be getting two more Salmon Run maps. These are called Shakehouse and Threepoints. These are obviously new maps.
It looks like Grizzco is branching out from clothes and will now stock their own brand of weapons. Particularly, they’ll be selling their own Blaster, Charger and Bella. It also appears that the Squeezer is a brand new weapon which looks to be on the way.
It looks like we’re getting brand new characters. In the character creation screen ‘gender type’ has been replaced with ‘player type’ indicating that we could be Octolings or some other brand new character type. This is probably the most interesting thing to come in the leak and would definitely be part of a bigger content release of the game.
It’s important to note that whilst all of these are most likely in the game’s code, it could mean that a lot of the content might never see the light of day for various reasons. Regardless, it looks like Nintendo have massive plans for Splatoon 2.
