In a weird turn of events, SEGA has announced that they’ll be publishing Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy in Japan. It’s a very weird turn of events. The fact that this Naughty Dog game that was a PlayStation 1 exclusive, before Activision bought the rights and re-released the game on PlayStation 4, before then bringing it to the Switch and Xbox only for SEGA to obtain the publishing rights to release it in Japan.
I can’t even begin to imagine how that would have happened. There’s also that weird little matter of Crash Bandicoot looking insanely different in Japan, which I still can’t wrap my head around.
I’ve tried to look a little bit further into why SEGA would be publishing but can’t find anything of significance.
