Nintendo Is Working On a Patch For A Late Game-Breaking Bug In Metroid Dread

Nintendo has issued a notice via its Support page that warns users of a potential bug in Metroid Dread’s late game areas that results in the game force closing and may stop users from progressing.

The issue occurs when players destroy a specific door towards the end of the game, while the door’s map marker is visible. Doing so causes the game to forcibly close and display the message “The software was closed because an error has occured.”

The company says it’s working on a patch for the issue that it hopes to deliver by the end of October. Read the support statement here.

Should you encounter the bug, Nintendo recommends doing the following:

  1. Restart the game and, before playing through this sequence, remove the door icon map marker to prevent this error from occurring.
  2. Once the October 2021 software update is available, update the game.
