Nintendo held its Q&A following its Q3 financial results announcement and gave us a few more tidbits of information in relation to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 release.
Interestingly but not surprisingly, Nintendo President Furukawa spoke about the price claiming that whilst the inflation rate, exchange rate and other factors have changed significantly since 2017, Nintendo had also considered that the Switch 2 needs to be priced at “the affordability that our customers expect from Nintendo products”.
It’s no secret that Nintendo would have been finding the sweet spot for price, which is why the Switch 2 is rumoured not to have an OLED display, the original Switch has never really seen a price drop (likely due to the factors described), and with this coming in with a lot more power and different factors happening in the world, we’d expect it to cost more than the original Switch did at launch, but these comments by the president are a hopeful sign that we won’t see it go the way of the PS5 Pro and hopefully still be relatively within reach for everyday people.
We’re set to learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2 in just a couple of months as Nintendo announced the exact timing for the Direct 2 and you can find the Aussie times HERE.
