During this morning’s Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, it was confirmed that the successor to Nintendo’s insanely popular home console and handheld hybrid would feature an LCD screen.
Unlike the original Switch, which boasted a 6.2-inch screen, Nintendo Switch 2’s 7.9-inch display comes at no additional increase to the console’s thickness, which should ensure a similar form factor.
Like the original Switch, Nintendo Switch 2’s launch model will feature an LCD screen, putting to rest rumours over whether the company might adopt a more deluxe approach and deliver OLED at launch. While it’s likely they’ll iterate throughout the generation once again, it’s nice to get confirmation about the display.
It’s worth noting the console will support 1080p in handheld mode with frame rates up to 120 frames per second supported on select games, while the resolution output can support up to 4K in docked mode.
