It’s been a slow trickle of Nintendo Switch 2 products going live in Australian stores, and JB Hi-Fi has now listed the majority of games both first and third-party and as expected, almost all of the third-party games are Game-Key Cards.
Whilst this probably won’t be a big deal for most, this is basically a Card that can be used across multiple systems and sold or traded in, but the game still needs to be downloaded, so it’s only going to really be an issue for those with slow internet or if the servers are every turned off (well into the future).
Interestingly enough, Cyberpunk 2077 which comes with its full expansion is the full game on game card and Split Fiction is still using a code in the box, so you won’t be able to trade it in or sell it, and does show that this can still be a method used by publishers.
The full list of games that will use a Game-Key Card in Australia at present are below:
- Street Fighter 6: Year 1-2 Fighters Edition
- Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD
- Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Nintendo Switch 2 Edition
- Sonic x Shadow Generations Day One Edition
- Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut
- Split Fiction (Code in a Box)
- RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army
