The 2025 Pokemon World Championships are taking place and the final day brought us a brand new trailer for Pokmeon Legends Z-A.

Whilst Pokemon Legends: Arceus was lacking in the multiplayer department, Z-A will have a new link battle mode that allows up to four players to compete, with the goal of trying to defeat as many of each other’s Pokemon before the time expires.

To make matters even more chaotic, you’ll be able to take advantage of Mega Evolutions as well as the full range of movement and all four trainers can attack at anytime with items also appearing as the battle goes on.

You’ll be able to play against friends, but also take part in ranked battles against people around the world where you’ll start at Rank Z and have to try and climb to ultimate Rank A.

Here’s how The Pokemon Company describe it:

Test your real-time battling skills against Trainers around the world in Ranked Battles. You’ll earn points based on your placement in four-player Link Battles, and may earn an additional kicker based on your performance. Similar to the main story, you’ll start off at Rank Z and can climb the ranks to the ultimate Rank A.

Looking to settle who’s the best Trainer once and for all? Challenge your friends in Private Battles! You can input a Link Code to connect with nearby players using local communication or distant players online. Once you’re all connected, you can adjust the battle rules to your liking and battle against up to three other players.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 on October 16th. The cheapest price is $99 with free shipping or $78 with free shipping respectively.
