Nintendo held a 20+ minute Nintendo Direct focusing on Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream overnight and revealed that it will release on April 16th, 2026 for the original Nintendo Switch.
The game takes place on an open tropical island which once again is populated by Miis. In terms of what’s new, you can now directly control how Miis interact with eachother and there’s a lot more Mii Maker customisations and they now feature ears as well.
In terms of other changes, you can now have same-sex relationships in the game with the dating preference choies being male, female and non-binary and you’re able to select one or multiple dating options.
The game is a Nintendo Switch game and will obviously be playable on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it isn’t clear if it will have any enhancements (such as an increased resolution).
Nintendo confirmed following the Nintendo Direct that there will be restrictions on certain image sharing features which will be monitored closely in line with Nintendo’s game content guidelines.
