There have whispers of Dead Island 2’s cancellation for many months now. With the removal of the game page from Steam it now appears that the rumours may be true. As you can see below, the record shows that the Steam store page was removed alongside it’s description and hasn’t been replaced.
Dead Island 2 has had a very public troubled development. It was originally revealed at E3 2014 with a 2015 release date. The game was delayed before publisher Deep Silver announced that developer Yager was no longer working on the game. Sumo Digital were quickly announced as the new developer. It’s been some time since we’ve heard about the game leading us to believe that it had potentially been cancelled before this revelation.
Ever since its original reveal, gamers were confused about the purpose of the title with two Dead Island titles coming before it and the much better received Dying Light.
