Battlefield 2042’s High-Stakes New Hazard Zone Mode Sounds Intense

EA and DICE have finally unveiled the last of Battlefield 2042’s multiplayer modes in the form of Hazard Zone.

This squad-based, PvPvE mode sees players move through key phases or pillars of play, with the goal to recover precious data drives and extract before being eliminated by the enemy.

First, players will need to strategize and equip, talking over the information presented in the Mission Area Briefing, before selecting their specialists and loadouts to suit the task and strategy at hand.

Once that’s done and players have inserted into any of Battlefield 2042’s seven All-Out Warfare maps, it’s time to secure the data drives at all costs – competing with both other player squads looking to seize them and AI Occupying Forces who’ll try to protect them.

Lastly, with drives in hand, two extraction points will appear on the map at randomised locations for a brief window of time. Players can try to extract early with the first one, or risk holding out for the final extraction to secure more drives and score bigger. Doing better means earning more XP and Dark Market credits – the latter of which is used to gear up at the beginning of a Hazard Zone match.

All up it sounds like an intense, survival experience similar to games like Hunt: Showdown where squad unity is key and big risks equal big rewards. Check out the reveal trailer below:

Battlefield 2042 will be available on November 19, 2021, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
