Armed With Wings: Rearmed

Gorgeous Australian Made 2D Action Game ‘Armed With Wings: Rearmed’ Is Out Now

After a few years in early access the stylish black and white action, platformer Armed With Wings: Rearmed, is out now on Steam.

Launching just last night on Steam, Armed was originally a flash game released way back in 2008. Since then the game has been reworked from top to bottom for it’s rebirth onto Valve’s platform.

In Armed With Wings, you play as the ‘fallen’ in a journey to take down the Tyrant King Vandheer, who crushed your people and destroyed any chance of freedom. There is a rather dark story at play here, one in which you’ll be exploring 40 levels filled with various enemies and puzzles, many of which you’ll need your eagle companion to help you solve.

To be fair though, I think I’ll struggle to make it past the enemies as it is, due to being caught out and killed while appreciating the art and animation on offer in Armed With Wings.

The game comes from Australian developer Sun Studios, which is comprised solely of Daniel Sun. Who did all the art, animation, coding, music and Steam publishing for Armed, by himself! It is god damn impressive knowing this and seeing how much detail there is in the polished gameplay (I’ve played it at various cons over the past couple of years).

The game has come a long way since its original release, featuring vastly more content in regards to levels, 3 playable characters, various modes and even local multiplayer, so you can battle your friends in epic duels.

But don’t just take my word for it, check out the awesome launch trailer (which you may notice was even published on the devs on personal channel) to see how slick the combat and art style is.

At the moment Armed With Wings is only available on Steam (PC), but later this year Aussie publishers Nooo are bringing it to PS4 and Xbox One.

And before you ask, they are considering bringing it to the Nintendo Switch too. But we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

The game is sitting at ‘very positive’ on Steam from user reviews, which is a great sign the community are already digging it a day into release. If this looks like your jam then you should head on over to Steam now as Sun Studios is running a launch discount of 15% off. But to be fair, it feels like a steal at the full price of just $8 USD.
