The PlayStation Network Is Down (It’s Back Up Now)

UPDATE: It appears that Sony has restored the Playstation Network (as of 4:27pm). It appears that users were experiencing issues for about an hour. Thankfully it’s back online before our peak gaming session tonight.

The PlayStation Network is currently down worldwide. This effects: Account Management, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Music and most importantly, Gaming and Social.

The error screen suggests that the PlayStation Network is currently down for maintenance, but PlayStation’s support website definitely indicates that their engineers are working to resolve the issue.

The PlayStation Network’s support site says:
Affected Platforms: Other , PS Vita , PS3™ , PS4™ , Web

Affected Services:You may have some difficulty launching games, applications or online features. Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.

It’s not clear what has caused the issue and it’s unclear how long it’ll last, but it’s definitely sure to affect people who are trying to play digital games, those playing games online or people that are trying to access the PlayStation Store.

Aussieoutages, which allows members of the Australian public to mark when they are having an issue with a service is also reporting a significant amount of issues, with over 950 people confirming in the last hour that they were facing problems.
