Here’s Why Terry Crews Isn’t In Overwatch As Doomfist

Ever since Doomfist appeared, Terry Crews and Overwatch fans alike agreed that he’d be perfect for the role but it wasn’t to be.

In a recent interview, Crews said that he had gone down to Blizzard and were talking about the possibilities of him playing the character, but they’d gone in another direction and he’d honestly believed that the right decision had been made to go with the other actor.

After Blizzard’s panel at SDCC, Gamespot caught up with Blizzard developers to get a final answer about why Crews didn’t end up in the game.

“We love Terry. Terry’s awesome. He came and visited us. We had a great time,” Overwatch Designer Michael Chu said.

He continued on by saying that they wanted the character to be perfect and they were looking for something incredibly specific which they found in Sahr.

“When we were looking for Doomfist, we were looking for something very specific given his role in the game and everything. When we were early in the audition process, we heard Sahr, who’s the actor who plays Doomfist, and he just blew us away immediately. Once we heard his voice, it was like, ‘Holy crap. That’s Doomfist.’”
