Ghost Recon Breakpoint Shares Progression Across PVP And PVE

One of the things many players of Ghost Recon: Wildlands would’ve noticed is that the game didn’t launch with any PVP modes. You only have to look to the subreddits and the message boards two years ago to see how many fans were dismayed with this decision. Thankfully, Breakpoint will be aiming to remedy that, and in a big way no less.

Sitting down with the key creatives in Paris last week, it was revealed that Ghost Recon: Breakpoint will feature PVP available at launch. What’s perhaps even cooler is that your progression is shared across whatever mode you play – whether it be solo, co-op or in the PVP elements – so whatever you’re earning or doing at any point will feed into your character in other modes.

I sat down with Sébastien Le Prestre, Lead Development Tester and Laura Cordrey, Community Developer to chat about this progression system and how they thought it was one of the core aspects of Breakpoint that was worth talking about:

James – Whats the one thing you want people to know about Breakpoint coming out?

Laura – […] Obviously, the classes as well, cross PVE and PVP in terms of integration, it really feels like a game changer.

Sébastien – I was gonna say exactly, what she said, exactly, I was gonna say for me what’s important to me, the most interesting and exciting is the shared progression between PVE and PVP. You’ll really truly have that flexibility. You were saying before “man I didn’t wanna jump into Wildlands because my buddies were too far ahead” well now you if they’re not on yet you can play some PVP and unlock some stuff and use that stuff to play with them in PVE when they jump on.

It’s something that hasn’t been done up until now, especially in Ghost Recon, it’s the most exciting for us.

Nouredine Abboud, the Executive Proudcer who I spoke with earlier in the day, agreed that the importance of PVP and having it at launch sets Breakpoint apart from Wildlands out the gate. Responding to comments that I didn’t play Wildlands in PVP, he said:

Nouredine – I think also the first one [Wildlands] we didn’t come with PVP at launch, which didn’t increase our chances [of grabbing you]. This time I insist on this for us it is very important that fans have PVP at launch. You can develop your character in solo, co-op and PVP. No matter what you do, you level up the same character. WE think it’s a game changer, I hope and believe.

Whether you’ll play by yourself or with friends, you’ll be able to play Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint when it first releases Friday, October 4th later this year.
