Creative Director, Hugo Martin, has confirmed that the upcoming DOOM Eternal, slated for release on March 20 of this year, will not have microtransactions. While the game will, of course, have cosmetic skins available for you to customise your Doom Slayer, you won’t have to cough up any cash for them. Instead, they will all be available by earning XP in-game as you play.
“Eternal is a USD$60 game,” Martin said on Facebook, “not a free-to-play game or a mobile game—we are giving u [sic] a complete experience with no store just like you’d expect.”
Fans of the series should be thrilled to hear that Eternal will continue in the microtransaction free footsteps of its predecessor, 2016’s DOOM. Similarly, the available items will have no bearing on your character’s performance, only on how badass they look while slaughtering everything in their path.
DOOM Eternal will be available on March 20th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
