The Last Of Us: Part II As A PS1 Game Is Pretty Damn Cool

Have you ever wondered what the Last of Us would look like if it had been released for the PS1? Neither had we until stumbling across this incredible reimagining by UK based YouTuber Ben “Bearly Regal” Parker.

As a fan of PS1 classics like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, I would absolutely play the hell out of this version while waiting for the official launch of the Last of Us Part II on May 29 and so would the series’ director Neil Druckmann apparently, according to a retweet he posted earlier today.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t Bearly Regal’s first foray into PS1 demastering, however, not even close. Parker is known for producing teaser trailers for creative remakes and demakes of some of the most popular games and franchises using LEGO Worlds, Minecraft, and Sony’s Dreams. Just a few weeks ago Parker released Cyberpunk 1997, a similar demake for the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 as well as a demake of Death Stranding mid last year.

The talented creator uses Media Molecule’s Dreams for his PS1 renditions, an open-ended environment where users can create their own content including fully-fledged video games, video game logic, and mechanics, assets, 3D sculptures, music, art and more for others to play. Dreams is currently in early access but a full release of the title will be available on February 14, 2020 for RRPAUD$54.95.

We’re looking forward to seeing more phenomenal original content from Parker once Dreams is officially launched in a couple of weeks. Personally, I’d love to see a third person PS1 version of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, what would be your dream demake?
