It’s been long rumoured that Sony’s first PS5 event would be happening in the first week of June, but rumours started firming up overnight with multiple industry insiders confirming that the event is likely to take place on June 3rd (June 4th for us in Australia).
This event is set to focus on games specifically and how they run on next-gen hardware. A follow up State of Play stream is also being reported for August, with regular updates also set to come on the PlayStation Blog.
It started with VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb who started cryptically tweeting about the fact that Sony’s PS5 event would be somewhere between June 2nd and June 4th (American time) before flat out confirming that the event is planned for June 4th at this stage.
I'll just say that June 3 is June 4 in Japan. pic.twitter.com/HRJWaBFCiW

Then, Jason Schreier (now at Bloomberg) confirmed that the event was currently scheduled to take place on June 3rd, but that things can change, but this is as close to confirmation that we’re going to get without actual confirmation.
