UPDATE: The Brisbane store has now pulled the stand down. Kotaku Australia has confirmed this with the store over the phone.
When a big game release comes around, one of my favourite things is seeing what creative store people do with their store displays. For instance, The Gamesmen has created an amazing The Last Of Us Part II display and I was in my local JB Hi-Fi today and they’d created something similar in store (complete with hand-drawn illustrations).
Sometimes, these displays go a little bit too far. We’ve seen JB Hi-Fi push the boundaries with some of its game reviews before, but this The Last Of Us Part II display from a Brisbane store absolutely oversteps the mark.
At first glance, the display looks as you’d expect, but it’s not until you look a little bit closer and see that the store has re-created the cover of The Last Of Us Part II with a title ‘A Very Angry Lesbian’.
Obviously, Ellie is a lesbian and Naughty Dog has never shed away from this fact, choosing to embrace it throughout The Last Of Us: Left Behind and The Last Of Us Part II, but you have to wonder why somebody would use this in the way that they have in a store display.
