These Nine Ubisoft Games Won’t Work On The PS5

Earlier this year Sony reported that 99% of PlayStation 4 games are backwards compatible and will work on the PlayStation 5, which then led to a list of 10 games that Sony had published that wouldn’t work.

According to a blog post published by Ubisoft this morning, there’s also nine more Ubisoft games that don’t work. “Most of our back catalog of games will have backward compatibility between the next and current generation of consoles, with a few exceptions,”. These exceptions are listed below:

  • Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
  • Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles Trilogy Pack
  • Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles India
  • Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles China
  • Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles Russia
  • Risk
  • Star Trek: Bridge Crew
  • Werewolves Within
  • Space Junkies.

Fortunately, the list isn’t particularly heavy-hitting and Ubisoft has assured fans that while these few games won’t work on the PS5, the entire Ubisoft collection will be available on Xbox Series X/S, when both consoles launch later this month. We’re not quite sure why these particular games are excluded from backwards compatibility but it sets an interesting precedent going forward. I’m curious to see which other developers come forward with exclusion lists of their own as we near the start of a new console generation.

The PlayStation 5 launches on November 12, 2020, but in the meantime, you can check out our PlayStation 5 unboxing and more from our launch hub right here.
