This is something that I’ve never seen before.
Straight after January’s PlayStation Plus lineup was announced last week, PS5 owners started reporting that Sony were refunding them for their recent purchase of Maneater. This is due to the fact that it is included in January’s PlayStation Plus lineup (and has also recently been on sale).
The message reads: “Maneater – As you as a subscriber of PlayStation Plus, we will refund the purchase price of this product to your PlayStation Store wallet as this is a PlayStation Plus Monthly Game. This will not affect your ability to play the game as we have not removed the game from your library”
It doesn’t appear that this happened for every person that purchased Maneater, and it’s unclear what the criteria was for getting the refund, but it’s still super cool to see Sony doing this. Games frequently go on sale the month before they’re included in a PlayStation Plus lineup, and it’s often a cause for frustration.
If you’ve received the refund, you’d be able to find it in your notifications. Obviously, if you purchased the game physically, you’re out of luck with this.
