Ubisoft Is Officially Working On A Splinter Cell Remake

It’s official! Ubisoft has announced that it’s begun work on a Splinter Cell remake at its Ubisoft Toronto studio.

In a post on its website, Ubisoft confirmed that the remake is being built on the Snowdrop engine (the same one as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and the upcoming Ubisoft Star Wars game).

In talks with Creative Director Chris Auty, Producer Matt West, and Technical Producer Peter Handrinos, the announcement post explains that the team considers this a remake – and not a remaster – due to the fact that they’re rebuilding it from the ground up and taking inspiration both from the original games as well as modern titles.

It’s obviously very early days so there’s not much information on how the remake will eventually look and play, but you can watch a lengthy video introducing the remake below:
