Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, has announced that God of War Ragnarök has set the record for the fastest-selling first party PlayStation game to date.
The game has reportedly sold 5.1 million copies as of its debut week, outpacing every other PlayStation Studios game launch and breaking franchise records. The last PlayStation Studios title to raise the benchmark for the honour was The Last of Us Part 2 in 2020.
Thank you to all the PlayStation fans who made God of War Ragnarok the fastest selling PlayStation Studios game ever, and congratulations to everyone @SonySantaMonica on this amazing achievement #GodofWarRagnarok pic.twitter.com/M3y7Uz2GCz

It’s a well-deserved victory for a game that we scored a 9.5/10 in our review, saying “God of War Ragnarok is a triumph. Santa Monica Studio has successfully taken everything that was great about the last game and amplified it while correcting just about every problem area and then some.”
If you’re yet to join the other 5 million+ people holding back the impending Ragnarok, Amazon currently has the game for $78 (PS4)/$104 (PS5) with free shipping.
We’re also giving away both a Collector’s Edition and Jotnar Edition of the game, entries close soon so get yours in here.
