Alone In The Dark Has Been Delayed To Next Year

October wasn't feeling very "alone."

October just got slightly less hectic, with THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive announcing that the upcoming Alone in the Dark reboot is being moved from its original October 25th release to the much less spooky date of January 16th next year.

A post on X announcing the delay says that, “Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October,” although the delay isn’t purely designed to move Alone in the Dark away from 2023’s busiest month but will also allow the studio to put the finishing touches on the game.

A separate statement shared by THQ Nordic says, “Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October.”

Alone in the Dark is a love letter to the ground-breaking original survival horror experience that takes players to an atmospheric and haunting rendition of the 1920s deep south as either Edward Carnby, played by David Harbour, or Emily Hartwood, played by Jodie Comer. There’s free prologue demo available to check out on for anyone wanting to get an idea of the spooky vibes on offer.
