The Last Of Us Season 2 Has Officially Cast Its Abby And Jesse

It's Cassie Drake!

Update: In further The Last of Us Season 2 casting news, it’s now been confirmed that Beef star Young Mazino will be taking on the role of Jesse in the show.

Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann told Deadline, “Young is one of those rare actors who is immediately undeniable the moment you see him. We’re so lucky to have him, and we can’t wait for the audience to see Young shine in our show.”

As reported by Variety, HBO’s The Last of Us has confirmed its casting for Abby in the second season of the hugely-successful show.

Stepping into the role will be Kaitlyn Dever, who’s credited for films like Next Goal Wins and No One Will Save You along with TV projects like Last Man Standing and Justified, and has actually had a role in a Naughty Dog game in the past as Cassie Drake in Uncharted 4. HBO describes Abby’s character in the show as “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.”

“Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material,” series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann told the outlet. “Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”

The first season of The Last of Us has picked up numerous awards recently including Emmys for both Nick Offerman and Storm Reid for their supporting roles as Bill and Riley.

We also learned recently that production on the second season of The Last of Us has been confirmed by showrunner Craig Mazin to start on February 12th, with the season premiere officially pegged for a 2025 release.

A 2025 release date gives fans and newcomers plenty of time to get through the recently-announced The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which launches on January 19th and features enhanced visuals for PS5 along with all-new content and game modes. Our full review for the remaster will be live on Wednesday, January 17th at 2AM AEDT.
