This morning saw the premier of the year’s first PlayStation State of Play, which gave us a look at around 40 minutes of reveals and updates on games coming to PlayStation in 2024 and beyond. There were some neat surprises (early leaks be damned) as well as some exciting extended looks and new information on upcoming games.
One of those surprises (again, unless you were following early leaks) was the reveal of Sonic X Shadow Generations, a remaster of Sonic Generations that’s also adding a brand-new standalone campaign for Shadow the Hedgehog – just in time for the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie. Sonic Team is handling the remaster and says that the new content will give fans the opportunity to “dive into Shadow’s dark past to understand his motivations and learn more about him as a character.”
“With Sonic x Shadow Generations, we wanted to bring Sonic Generations to PS5 and PS4 while pairing a brand-new Shadow storyline to crossover with the original story.
“With Shadow’s portion of the title, players will get to know him more as a character and understand his motivations. It will create the ultimate celebration of Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Shadow gameplay that all fans will surely enjoy.”
