You Can Play Cyberpunk 2077’s First Five Hours For Free On PS5 And Xbox Series This Weekend

Wake up, Samurai!

In case you’ve somehow not taken the trip to Night City and wrapped your hands around CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 so far, this weekend might be your best opportunity to check the game, especially after it received its experience-changing 2.0 update last year. CDPR has announced that a free trial of the full game will be available to download and play this weekend on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The free trial will kick off on Friday, March 29th at 2AM AEDT and run until Monday, April 1st at 5:59PM AEDT, and won’t require players to have any kind of subscription, and will allow for a total of five hours of playtime with no limits to what they spend that five hours doing.

In our review of Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion, which presumably won’t be a part of this trial but which launched along with the 2.0 update, we said, “On the back of Phantom Liberty, along with a really substantial rebuild of all of the game’s core systems, Cyberpunk 2077 manages to wash its hands of its past failures and emerges as the genuine article. At last, it’s the intoxicating escape I once thought it was and stands out, to me, as the premiere role-playing resort in what might very well be a modern golden age for the genre.”
