During an interview with the French magazine Le Film Français, Hideo Kojima has effectively placed a tentative launch window for his upcoming espionage-thriller Physint, which was revealed to be in development for PlayStation at a State of Play last year, of five-six years.

When asked whether he’d pursue more filmmaking projects after the Death Stranding adaptation wraps for A24, more specifically directorial roles, Kojima replied: “Oh yes! I received many offers after leaving Konami.

“Besides Death Stranding 2, there is Physint in development. That will take me another five or six years. Maybe after that, I could finally decide to tackle a film. I grew up with cinema. Directing would be a kind of homage to it. Besides, I’m getting older, and I would prefer to do it while still young.”

This kind of turnaround isn’t surprising given he has other works, such as OD, in development also, however it’s certainly going to be a long wait for those eager for Kojima’s spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid.

Press Start was recently provided the opportunity to visit Kojima Productions to go hands-on with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Click here to read it.
