UPDATE: After playing the final version of the game today, I finally have now have my own exclusive 4K/60FPS gameplay footage

ORIGINAL STORY: One of my most anticipated games of the year releases this week in Rugby League 26, marking the first league game to hit the PS5/Xbox Series X gen of consoles, and unfortunately, our first look at gameplay comes the way of leaked copies.

The servers were briefly opened (they’ve now been closed) which let several people get hours of footage and upload them to YouTube (as seen below). It’s extremely important to note that this isn’t a final version of the game.

As Big Ant CEO has noted (and we believe him based on covering many of these launches), that the team is working on the game up until the last minute, and this is apparently a 2-3 month old build based on when the disc needed to be pressed.

The game does look to be quite similar to Rugby League Live 4, which I don’t necessarily think is a bad thing as I absolutely loved that game, and obviously, the game has all teams face scanned in, will have all of the rule changes, Pro team and a bunch of other inclusions.

It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out on launch on Thursday. I’m glad we have a new Rugby League game and hopefully it turns out to be decent.

Rugby League 26 launches on PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S on July 17th (you can pre-order at JB Hi-Fi for $89 here).
