Atari has revealed a brand-new version of its iconic home gaming system, the Atari 2600, with the Atari 2600+.
The Atari 2600+ is an updated version of the iconic Atari 2600 and is designed to work with modern televisions with new enhancements along with the ability to play actual Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 cartridges. It’s around 80% of the original size of the console so it’s not a “mini” style device but also won’t have the huge footprint of the original machine. You’ll even be able to use the controllers with original Atari 2600/7800 hardware.
Here’s what this baby can do:
– Play both Atari 2600 and 7800 game cartridges
– HDMI output for connection to modern displays
– Widescreen mode available
– Enlarged cartridge socket to reduce sticking
– Atari logo that lights up when being played
The Atari 2600+ comes with a CX40+ Joystick which has been lovingly recreated to the same specifications as the original, and a 10-in-1 game cartridge featuring some of Atari’s most famous games: Adventure, Combat, Dodge ‘Em, Haunted House, Maze Craze, Missile Command, RealSports Volleyball, Surround, Video Pinball and Yars’ Revenge.
