Elgato has just unveiled the latest in its hugely-popular line of plug-and-play game capture cards, the Elgato 4K X and Elgato 4K Pro.
The 4K X brings with it full compatibility with HDMI 2.1 devices and passthrough, meaning you can capture up to 4K video at 144hz with the latest consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X|S without sacrificing the benefits of things like VRR and HDR10 on your display.
Like many of its other game capture products, the Elgato 4K X is a simple plug-and-play system that sits in-between your console or other device and your display via HDMI passthrough, and then feeds out your captured video via a 10Gbps USB-C port for the highest quality and reliability.
Meanwhile, the Elgato 4K Pro is a high-end PCIe capture card for PC that boasts up to a whopping 8K60 passthrough and 4K60 capture with the same HDMI 2.1 compatibility, making it great for capturing modern consoles or in a dual-PC streaming setup.
The Elgato 4K X is available now through Elgato’s website for $229 USD (around $350) and the Elgato 4K Pro is $280 USD (around $430 USD).
