It’s been a while, but Xbox Live appears to be down worldwide at the moment.
Xbox Support tweeted out that their teams were investigating issues with Xbox Live including launching games. They’ve also tweeted a link out that points to an Xbox Status page that ironically also appears to have gone down. It says:

Aussieoutages.com is reporting a record amount of Xbox Live problems with over 1000 reports of it being down in Australia in the last few hours.
