Microsoft Studios Is Now Xbox Game Studios

During this morning’s Inside Xbox, it was announced that Microsoft Studios has been officially rebranded as Xbox Game Studios. It’s a concentrated effort to embrace the fact that Xbox’s roots are in games themselves, and it certainly gives us an idea of what Microsoft’s focus is going to be moving forward.

Microsoft has certainly taken great strides in the last year to make it clear their focus is primarily games. By acquiring big-name studios and expanding their roster of first-party studios, they’ve shown this.

The statement on Xbox Wire runs through all that we can expect from the many studios that make up Xbox Game Studios this year, from the launches of games like Gears 5 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps to the expansion of service games like Sea of Thieves and Minecraft. They also hinted that we’re going to see what the seven game studios acquired last year have been hard at work on in the coming months.

“We’re also excited to see how the seven new game development studios we added to our team last year maximize their creative potential as part of Xbox Game Studios,” the statement reads. “As a gaming organization, we have never been in a better position to deliver a diverse line-up of exclusive games for Xbox fans now, and in the future.”
