The Next Gen Xbox Is Actually Just Called Xbox

This actually makes a lot of sense.

Microsoft announced the Xbox: Series X last Friday at The Game Awards last Friday and the name was a little bit of a surprise to many people due to the fact that it’s a little bit confusing (as the last Xbox was named the Xbox One X).

Well, it turns out that Microsoft has revealed that the name of the next Xbox is purely just ‘Xbox’ with this specific model that was revealed being the Xbox Series X. This is evident in the marketing material released for the console as well, where the XBOX is in larger, bold letters and the Series X is below in a smaller, skinnier font.

“The name we’re carrying forward to the next generation is simply Xbox,” a Microsoft representative told Business Insider, “And at The Game Awards you saw that name come to life through the Xbox Series X.”

This actually makes a lot of sense. It’s been rumoured that there’s a lesser powered next-gen Xbox releasing alongside the Xbox Series X, and it’ll most likely just be called ‘Xbox’ or ‘Xbox Series *insert letter here*’ but fact of the matter is, the next-gen Xbox (as a product line) is just called ‘Xbox’.

Thanks, Business Insider.
