Stray Is Officially Getting An Xbox Release Soon

Cats love boxes so this is great news!

After an ESRB rating seemingly outed the news early, publisher Annapurna Interactive has confirmed in a live-streamed showcase that the once-PlayStation timed exclusive and Game of the Year nominee, Stray, is coming to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.

The game, in which players control a stray kitty in a post-apocalyptic world populated by robots acting out their best facsimile of human life, will launch on Xbox consoles on August 10. You can see a new trailer announcing Stray’s Xbox release from the Annapurna Interactive Showcase below:

“Lost, alone and separated from family, a stray cat must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten city.

Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed, neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly. Roam surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by curious droids and dangerous creatures.”

We gave Stray a huge 9/10 in our review when the game launched on PS5, PS4 and PC last year, saying “Stray is a brisk and relentlessly charming adventure that offers a very unique window into a gorgeous sci-fi world. It won’t challenge your mind or your reflexes too much but it’ll absolutely delight your senses. Importantly, it’s a video game with a dedicated ‘meow’ button, and what could possibly be better than that?”
