Indiana Jones Uses Harrison Ford’s Likeness But Troy Baker Is Providing The Voice

Baker as Ford as Jones.

Today’s Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct saw the world premiere reveal of the title and gameplay for Wolfenstein: The New Order developer MachineGames’ big new project, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

One of the most immediately exciting things to be revealed is that this game is set in the golden era of Indiana Jones, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, and so features the visage of a young Harrison Ford. The actor himself must have been busy or uninterested in voicing the role however, as we’ve also discovered that none other than Troy Baker is on duty for this game.

And look, sure Troy Baker being the voice of every white dude in a video game has been a gag for the longest time now, but in an age where we just as easily could have seen a studio whip out an AI Harrison Ford to do the work it’s at least a somewhat better outcome.

While the game will feature Ford’s likeness as the iconic Indy, being a MachineGames joint it’s still going to be a predominantly first-person adventure with only cutscenes and the occasional traversal moment giving us a look at his rugged mug.

“Our game is about putting you in the shoes of an iconic hero,” Design Director Jens Andersson says in a blog post on the Bethesda website. “Since we are doing this mostly in first-person, you have the chance to truly become Indy. First-person makes you part of this world – allowing you to explore and experience things more intimately. What will you do when you’re dropped into this adventure with your wits and your whip? The world of Indiana Jones is a world with mysteries around every corner, where you’re racing against the clock and outsmarting your enemies as you hunt down artifacts.”

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is slated to launch later this year for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will be a day one launch on Game Pass.
